SPELLING RULES – HOW TO ADD S TO THE VERBS:

RULE #1

  • If the verb ends in sshch, or x, add es to the verb.
  • Examples:
  1. pass – passes
  2. wash – washes
  3. watch – watches
  4. fix – fixes

RULE #2 – SPECIAL VERBS:

  1. do – does
  2. go – goes
  3. have – has

RULE #3:

  • If the verb ends in y, delete the y and add ies.
  • Examples:
  1. study – studies
  2. worry – worries
  3. try – tries
  4. fly – flies

  • If the verb ends in ayeyoyuy, just add s.
  • Examples:
  1. enjoy – enjoys
  2. stay – stays
  3. buy – buys
  4. obey – obeys
